DESCRIPTION:Kriekfest is the largest celebration devoted exclusively to barrel-aged cherry beverages. Kriekfest returns for its fourth annual inception\, harvesting the biggest basket of cherry beers––and cider\, mead\, and sparkling cherry wine––yet\, as well as relocating to a new venue. This year’s event will take place Saturday\, June 29 from 11:30am to 7pm at Von Ebert Brewing Glendoveer\, located at 14021 NE Glisan St. \n  \nNew to the festival this year is a five-course kriek pairing dinner\, which will be held at Von Ebert Glendoveer the evening prior on Friday\, June 28. Dinner tickets cost $125\, which includes the meal and beverages\, a commemorative stemmed glass\, gratuity\, and Kriekfest VIP admission the next day. \n  \nKriekfest 2019 festival and dinner tickets are available now at merctickets.com/go/Kriekfest. Advanced general admission costs $30 and includes six drink tickets. Advanced VIP admission is $50 and includes 13 drink tickets and half-hour early admission. GA is $40 and VIP is $60 at the gate. All beverages will be available in four-ounce pours; additional tasting tickets can be purchased onsite for $2 each. In 1986 her parents settled in Seattle to start Hedges Cellars. A vineyard was planted in 1990 in Eastern Washington\, Red Mountain area. In the summer Sarah along with her brother Christophe\, worked in the vineyard and in later years at the new winery built on that same location. Sarah’s love for the industry soon would turn into a career choice. She attended the University of San Diego and graduated with a degree in business and philosophy. She later attended UC Santa Barbara to study chemistry and at the same time worked for Santa Barbara winery managing the tasting room and helping with harvest. From 2003 to 2005 she worked for Preston Vineyards in Healdsburg\, Sonoma County\, doing wine production work\nIn 2005\, she decided to move back home and start working for the family winery. She joined the winery full-time in 2006 as Assistant Winemaker and two years later had completed her certificate degree in enology from Washington State University and started the label Goedhart Family with her husband. After her uncle and mentor retired in 2015\, Sarah became head winemaker. \nSarah’s love for fermentation doesn’t stop with wine. She bakes rustic breads in the wood fired oven using a starter she created with our biodynamic grapes. You can also find yogurt and sauerkraut crocks bubbling away in her kitchen.
