DESCRIPTION:  \nPresented by General Distributors Inc. the 2017 Portland Beer Week is an 11-day celebration of beer in the greatest beer city on earth. Portland Beer Week is a city-wide\, multi-venue\, multi-medium\, artistic and culinary inspired journey exploring beers many facets. \nOur eleven-day beer and food adventure is co-presented by Whole Foods Market\, Hotlips Pizza and Culmination Brewing and kicks off on Thursday\, June 8th and will run through Sunday\, June 18th with 100+ events taking place city-wide and into Portland’s suburbs. \nPortland Beer Week also raises money for non-profits and in 2016 our events donated over $10\,000 to local charities. \nLook out for collaborations with local food and beverage artisans such as an official Pizza from Hotlips Pizza and beer Ice Cream from Salt & Straw. An official 2017 beer week beer will be announced shortly\, available in limited edition bottles and draft from Culmination Brewing and available at Whole Foods Markets and select independent retailers through General Distributors. \nAfter the beer week kickoff on June 8th\, the weekend leads into the three day Portland Fruit Beer Festival (June 9-11). This 7th annual event is the world’s premiere showcase for fruit beers and appeals to an all-ages crowd in an outdoor atmosphere featuring local vendors\, food\, dj’s and non-alcoholic drinks. Tickets are now on sale. \nReturning in 2017 is the Portland Beer Week Seminar Series presented by Oregon State University and the HR Group. Up to five different seminars (tba) will be held in multiple locations across the city exploring subjects like branding for the beer industry\, starting and building a brewery from nano to production\, sustainability in brewing\, barrel-aging beers and sour and wild ales. \nMasters of IPA\, an invitational event showcases America’s best brewers of IPA’s and hoppy beers and will move to a larger venue with a curated selection\, glassware and meet the brewers hours on Friday\, June 16th at Ecliptic Brewing from 1-9pm. Breweries\, beers\, and tickets will be announced soon. \nThe 6th annual Portland Beer and Cheese Fest returns on Saturday June 17th to this years venue The Bindery Annex building\, home to Culmination Brewing and Oregon Mead and Cider. This years beer and pairing themed event focus’s on a Cascadia theme with even more creameries\, artisan chocolate\, charcuterie and more hand-crafted snacks that pair beautifully with beer. Tickets are on sale now for the general and limited VIP session. \nThe 6th annual Rye Beer Fest will return with a new date and venue\, relocating to the Happy Valley Station indoor/outdoor food cart pod and taproom on Saturday June 17th. Featuring 20+ rye beers\, 18 food carts\, all-ages and free entry. Merging a pale\, fruity hopped India Pale Ale with Oregon’s signature fruit Marionberries has resulted in a drinkable\, balanced beer that’s equal parts tropical hop and berry with a mild bitterness. We used sexy hop varieties Vic’s Secret and Galaxy along with the same natural fruit puree from Oregon Fruit Products that Hotlips uses in their sodas. \nCelebrate the release of the official 2017 Portland Beer Week beer – “Hop Berry IPA” on Friday\, June 9th at seven different locations across town. Culmination Brewing’s staff will split into three teams for a pub crawl that will go across the city celebrating “Hop Berry IPA” release and Portland Beer Week’s opening weekend. \n  \nFri. DESCRIPTION:The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest Tap List Announced\n \nPORTLAND\, Ore. – June 8th\, 2017 – The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest features 24 diverse rye beers and 1 cider.\n \nThe Rye Beer Fest\, a celebration of the revival of rye beers\, will be held Saturday\, June 17th\, 2017 from 11 am to 9 pm at Happy Valley Station Food Cart Pod (13551 SE 145th Ave\, Happy Valley\, OR 97015). This year the festival is benefitting New Avenues For Youth.\n \nThere is no cost to enter the festival\, but a $10 package is required to drink beer. This includes an official tasting glass and four drink tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 a piece. A majority of the beers will cost one ticket for a four-ounce pour or four tickets for a full glass. A few of the beers may require multiple tickets. Purchase your tickets in advance and save money by gaining additional drink tickets. Get eight tickets and an official rye beer fest tasting glass for $10 online at www.ryebeerfest.com.\n \nAs always festival organizer Kerry Finsand tries to curate a beer selection that highlights the impact of rye in a beer. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to try rye beers with a subtle hint of rye while others will feature more aggressive spicy characteristics.\n \nAfter a few years of unsuccessfully getting a brewer to brew a rare style of rye beer called Kvass\, this year it happened. Widmer Brother’s Brewer Thomas Bleigh brewed Kvass is that?\, a sour fermented beverage that is traditional in the Slavic and Baltic regions made from old rye bread. The drink is low ABV\, salty and tart and comes in at only 1.5%.\n \nThis is our first year of ever having a cider in our festival as well. Portland Cider Company has made Brigid\, a rye hopped cider (not gluten free) in the hopes of bringing beer and cider lovers together.\n \nIf you are not that adventurous enjoy award winning IPA’s or fruit beers\, amongst other styles.\n \n\nWhat You Need To Know:\n \n-24 beers/1 cider\n \n– 16+ Food Carts\n \n-The event is kid-friendly\n \n-Dogs are allowed outside of the food hall\n \n-The Food Hall is covered and has AC\n \n– Free Crater Lake Root Beer for kids with parent’s showing proof of buying admission into the event.\n \n-Growler fills are available for most rye beers for $10 until 6 pm with Rye Beer Fest admission.\n \n– Starting at 6 pm all of the remaining rye beer will be available for $6 a growler fill (up to 64 oz) that you provide. Get a glass growler (up to 64 oz) filled with the rye beer of your choice for only $8. DESCRIPTION:The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest Tap List Announced\n \nPORTLAND\, Ore. – June 8th\, 2017 – The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest features 24 diverse rye beers and 1 cider.\n \nThe Rye Beer Fest\, a celebration of the revival of rye beers\, will be held Saturday\, June 17th\, 2017 from 11 am to 9 pm at Happy Valley Station Food Cart Pod (13551 SE 145th Ave\, Happy Valley\, OR 97015). This year the festival is benefitting New Avenues For Youth.\n \nThere is no cost to enter the festival\, but a $10 package is required to drink beer. This includes an official tasting glass and four drink tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 a piece. A majority of the beers will cost one ticket for a four-ounce pour or four tickets for a full glass. A few of the beers may require multiple tickets. Purchase your tickets in advance and save money by gaining additional drink tickets. Get eight tickets and an official rye beer fest tasting glass for $10 online at www.ryebeerfest.com.\n \nAs always festival organizer Kerry Finsand tries to curate a beer selection that highlights the impact of rye in a beer. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to try rye beers with a subtle hint of rye while others will feature more aggressive spicy characteristics.\n \nAfter a few years of unsuccessfully getting a brewer to brew a rare style of rye beer called Kvass\, this year it happened. Widmer Brother’s Brewer Thomas Bleigh brewed Kvass is that?\, a sour fermented beverage that is traditional in the Slavic and Baltic regions made from old rye bread. The drink is low ABV\, salty and tart and comes in at only 1.5%.\n \nThis is our first year of ever having a cider in our festival as well. Portland Cider Company has made Brigid\, a rye hopped cider (not gluten free) in the hopes of bringing beer and cider lovers together.\n \nIf you are not that adventurous enjoy award winning IPA’s or fruit beers\, amongst other styles.\n \n\nWhat You Need To Know:\n \n-24 beers/1 cider\n \n– 16+ Food Carts\n \n-The event is kid-friendly\n \n-Dogs are allowed outside of the food hall\n \n-The Food Hall is covered and has AC\n \n– Free Crater Lake Root Beer for kids with parent’s showing proof of buying admission into the event.\n \n-Growler fills are available for most rye beers for $10 until 6 pm with Rye Beer Fest admission.\n \n– Starting at 6 pm all of the remaining rye beer will be available for $6 a growler fill (up to 64 oz) that you provide. Get a glass growler (up to 64 oz) filled with the rye beer of your choice for only $8. Growler fills special pricing is available to festival attendees with wristbands the day of and is open to the general public on Sunday.\n \n \nTransportation Options:\nBus Stop: SE Sunnyside & 147th bus stop close by (ID #12924).  \n \nParking is limited at Happy Valley Station but the adjacent church is graciously allowing us day parking in their lot.\n \nGetting to the rye beer fest is easy with Brewvana. They are offering a VIP Rye Beer Fest experience for $30\, which includes round trip transportation from the Lloyd Double Tree\, VIP entry\, 4 hours at the fest from (11 am – 3 pm)\, official rye beer fest tasting glass and 12 drink tickets. \n \n  \nProceeds from Rye Beer Fest will go towards New Avenues For Youth\, a local non-profit that supports homeless and at youth-risk in Portland.
