For the first time ever in the Seattle area, Urban Connoisseurs’ Founder, Marcia Jones will host her Women in Wine Celebration Dinner, bringing together four amazing women winemakers and trailblazers in their industry, and two equally amazing chefs for a wine experience like no other!

MEET THE WINEMAKERS
Denise Clarke, winemaker and co-owner, Altipiano Vineyard & Winery, Escondido, CA. The first Black women winemaker in the San Diego/Escondido area, Denise took a tragic fire and turned her land into a luscious Tuscan-inspired wine experience. Altipiano Vineyard & Winery is perched high above San Pasqual Valley’s San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido’s Highland Valley Wine Country. Guests who visit are invited to sit, sip and take in the majestic, compelling landscape and enjoy Italian varietals.
Donna Stoney, winemaker and owner, Stoney Wines, Willamette Valley, OR. Featured in Food & Wine, Wine Enthusiast, San Francisco Chronical, and The Oregonian., the first Black woman winemaker in Oregon says, “I just wanted to make wine.”. Donna is focused on some of Willamette Valley wine classics…Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and soon to be released Riesling.
Shae Frichette, winemaker and co-owner, Frichette Winery, Benton City, WA. Shae and her husband have focused on producing the Best Bordeaux varietals the Red Mountain AVA has. Guests can visit daily and enjoy some of the best reds in the state: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Carmenere, Malbec, and Reserve Blends. Shae, the first Black women winemaker in Washington, was inspired by an event created by Urban Connoisseurs, also produce wines under another label, Sashay, created to encourage everyone women to use their voice!
Theodora Lee, winemaker and vineyard owner, Theopolis Vineyards, Yorkville Highlands, CA. Known to many in the world of wine, as Theo-Patra or Queen of the Vineyards, The first Black women winemaker in Northern California, Theodora’s estate Petite Sirah grapes were winning awards for other winemakers long before she began producing her own award-winning wines under the label Theopolis Vineyards. The featured wine, 2018 Estate Grown Petite Sirah received 96 points from Wine Enthusiast!
MEET THE CHEF
Executive Chef, Sabrina Tinsley, co-owner of Osteria La Spiga, Seattle. Sabrina has taken her Verdun lineage, Louisiana heritage, and combined it with her love of Italy. She and her husband established Osteria La Spiga to bring authentic Italian cuisine to the Pacific Northwest. Her ability to taste the flavor profile in wines, and create cuisine specific dishes is what excites us about this evening event!

Once again, Urban Connoisseurs Founder, Marcia Jones, has created the Perfect Blend! The Mission of Urban Connoisseurs is the connect the Black winemakers to the wine connoisseurs. We do this primarily by creating wine events and blending the experience with some amazing chefs!
