Held at the Pacific Rim Institute of Environmental Stewardship near Coupeville, the first annual cider festival on Whidbey Island takes place Saturday, September 30. Enjoy tastings from top Northwest cideries including Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Alpenfire Cider, Bull Run Cider and others, along with local food pairings and family friendly activities. Guests are encouraged to bring their own heirloom apples for expert identification. Tickets are $25 for cider tasting, which includes eight pours and a commemorative glass.  General admission is free. www.pacificriminstitute.org
